Stress Management
1:1 SESSIONS & WORKSHOPS

What is Stress?
Stress is a much misused word. Most of us work well under a certain level of pressure, but when the pressure becomes too much we lose our ability to cope and become stressed. Stress does not happen overnight, it doesn't happen over a day or a week. It results from an individual being under a level of pressure that they are unable to cope with over a long period of time. Many of us are not conscious of this build up and often make ourselves ill as our minds and bodies try desparately to cope, often ignoring the warning signs.

Signs & Symptoms
The signs and symptoms of stress are infinite because they are very individual. But to give you some idea there are some listed below split across three distinct categories:
| Physical | Emotional | Behavioural |
|---|---|---|
| Headaches | Anxiety | Obsessive behaviour |
| Indigestion | Anger | Moodiness |
| Sleeplessness | Negativity | Increased forgetfulness |
| Back/Shoulder muscle pain | De-motivation | Withdrawal |
Coping with Stress
The first step is acknowledging that you need help. The best way to approach your coping ability is to realise that the solutions have to come from you. Once you stop blaming others - your boss, your partner, the kids - then you are ready to develop your own coping mechanisms for anything that life may throw at you!
Managing your stress could involve working on all or some of the following areas:
- Lifestyle
- Work ethic
- Perceptions
- Thinking style
- Emotional state
- Breathing
- Posture
How can I help?
Sometimes it helps to work with someone who has not only been through the stress mangle, but has come out of the other side with a deeper understanding. Why not give me a call or drop me an e-mail.
